ABOUT BANGSHIFT.COM

BangShift.com is a free blog-based magazine for car guys, hot rodders, and gearheads of all kinds. The site focuses on domestic performance hot rods, musclecars, and drag racing, and is also big on hot rodding history. We dip our toes in the worlds of street trucks, Jeeps, 4x4s, Stock Cars, and other forms of racing when we find outrageous stuff that would be cool for any car junkie to read about. Our regular blog items include news, new speed products, car show coverage, tech stories, car features, and historic stuff that every motorhead should know.

The site was originally founded by Hot Rod magazine editor David Freiburger as FreiburgersJunkyard.com, but when he got the call to return to the magazine staff fulltime, co-conspirators Chad Reynolds and Brian Lohnes took over the operation and changed the name to BangShift.com.

Chad Reynolds is a former exec in the human resources world who walked away from the corporate gig in order to get his Pro Stock license, do some drag racing, and open his own hot rod shop. His '56 Chevy wagon called Rusty was featured in Hot Rod magazine after it showed up on Power Tour, and the relationship with the Hot Rod magazine staff led to a job announcing Power Tour and the Car Craft Summer Nationals. Chad later moved to California to work for Spectre Performance before becoming entangled with Freiburger and this internet venture. Chad also runs Boondoggle Media, a video production company.

Brian Lohnes is the East Coast half of the operation, blogging out of Massachussetts where he's more likely than not to be found wrenching on his ancient tractor. He's into weird stuff like tractors and steam trucks almost as much as he's into hardcore drag racing stats from yesterday and today. As a self-described drag-o-phile he's been a dragstrip announcer for IHRA national events and has also written for many online drag sites. Brian's print credits include Hot Rod, Drag Racing Action, Drag Racer, Diesel Power, and more. Now you can read his stuff every day at BangShift.com.
