2017 Cincinnati Cavalcade Of Customs Coverage: Check Out Our First Batch Of Photos

(By Doug Gregory) – Indoor car show season is in full swing and while race tracks are making preparations for opening we’re getting our car fix by taking in a few car shows and visiting with folks.  While the other contributors have been snapping photos and shipping them up to Brian for posting, I’ve been sorting, cropping, resizing, watermarking, and writing these stories.  Some of them I’ve had to do a few times.  Got some weird thing going on with my portable hard drives and once in a while I lose stuff.  Good thing all my images are backed up.

Here at the Cincy Cavalcade of Customs we start out making a right turn into the space which begins the area called ‘Survivors Alley’.  So, as you might expect there are survivors, recreations, day-2 builds, barn finds, and all that kind of jazz.  One of the first things that greeted us was the enlarged Watson-style Indy roadster Cornfield Customs is creating.  Keeping with the original proportions, this is a 2-seater meant to be road driven by the owners.  Torsion bar suspension and loads of interesting touches can be found throughout.  We’ll keep you posted on its progress.  As we stroll around we see open-wheel stuff, bikes, roadsters, and even a few RPUs.  How about a Pontiac GTA Notchback barn find…?  Yup.  Brought it in still dirty after sitting for 17 years.  The plan is to clean it up and drive it.  Did I mention bikes…?  Well the pedal kind can be found there as well (and in a couple other areas).  Talk about bringing back some childhood memories.  Most of these are like gold these days.  We even captured a Caddy land-barge in the parking lot.

Enjoy the photos and stay tuned for more.
