Hot Rod Hullabaloo 2016 Coverage: A Collection Of Pre-1940 Rides!

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – This collection is mostly 1940 and older rides.  We’ll start off with the Shelby’s Speed & Kustom Deuce.  This car is to be driven cross-country next year in a promotional event to help raise awareness for suicide prevention – the driving force behind the non-profit Shelby’s Way.  We’ve stayed tuned in to the build process and this is one heck of a ride.  The work continues as it is not yet a fully-road-worthy ride.  Definitely looking forward to seeing this out and about in 2017.

Traditional rods and customs are the main theme of the event and we are not disappointed in the turnout.  Plenty of wide-whites, old-skool wheels, and metal-flake.  One of our favorites was the orange roadster sporting a Oberhausen electric supercharger.  We’d seen it once before at the Street Rod Nationals.  Its only the 2nd vehicle we’d ever seen in person with one of these contraptions.  Much goodness.

Enjoy.
