(Words and photos by Scott Liggett) – The 3rd annual Highway Creepers Car Show officially kicked off the season here in Central Nebraska with a rock-n-roll riff.
Last year, the weather was cold, windy and cloudy, but that didn’t stop the crowds. This year was the opposite with a warm sun inviting even bigger crowds. The crowds came too, nearly doubling last year’s attendance with 200 cars registered taking over 2 blocks of Central Ave in Kearney, NE. This year, the car show was raising money for the Kearney Children’s Museum in Kearney, NE. Live music was playing all day inside Gilley’s Bar and Grill, Pinup Girl contest and of course there were the cars.
The Highway Creepers car club is one of those clubs that is laid back, relaxed and the members’ cars are diverse as they come. Sure, they have a bunch of imaginative rat rods; but there are also traditional low riders, ground scraping slab sided Lincolns, hot rods, muscle cars, shoebox Fords, and even air bagged pickups. They don’t discriminate and welcome all.
