This 1970 Camaro SS Super Stocker Is An Awesome Time Capsule That Has A Steep Asking Price

Here’s a familiar case. We’ll call it the “awesome car/insane price” case. This 1970 Camaro is a truly stunning piece. 95-original miles, a factory big block, four speed car with a paint job to that leaves us speechless every time we see it and history as a super stock drag race machine in NHRA’s division one, this thing is hella sweet. We’re just not sure where the seller came up with the $135,000 value for the car. Is it worth something? Hell yes. Is it worth $135,000? Maybe to Chad but that’s about it.

We’re looking into the racing history of the car to see if it racked up any wins or had any notable successes back in the day, but we’ve got nothing so far. The car appeared on at least one magazine cover and it is still stunningly beautiful. Guys try to replicate these style of paint jobs today and while they look cool, they’re not as good as the originals like this one. The car only has 95 original miles as it was driven around that much before the original owner, Charlie Hampp converted it into a super stock car.

Here’s the full text of the ad:

This is the original Charlie hampp WitchCraft II, SS/E camaro.this is a real L78 camaro.with 95 actual miles. “no not a quarter mail at a time” Charlie bought brand new and drove it 95 miles and made it in to a drag car.It was raced in super stock, in Division 1,through out the 1970s.I purchsed it from Charlie in March of 1979.I raced it on and off till 1983.I put it in a private museum. In the summer of 2012 the car was cleaned up and freshned up, Big Daddy Don Garlits said. I hope it finds a very good home, not many like this exist today, I invited to 2013 York PA NHRA reunion by Darwin Doll. He said that he remembers the car in Division 1. He thought it was the most beautiful car on the circuit. In the 1970s.Charlie hampp and his wife.came to the reunion and saw the car for the first time in 34 years both where chocked up.It was on the cover of hot cars mag, may 1975.It has a period correct 396, 375HP super stock engine,Hemi box 4 speed dana 60 rear with 557 gears with a spool. This is a true suvivor of drag racing history.1 of a kind you will not find another like it.Asking price is 135,000.

I cannot recall ever seeing an intake that has the carb at a 30 degree angle like that before. Anyone care to explain the purpose behind that?

It’s called a Torker intake, if you take notice the runners are straight to the cylinder head ports, it improved flow drastically, it’s a great flowing intake manifold and hard to find!

That Camaro is worth about $75k max! I had a 68 Buick GS with a BBC with a 950cfm 3 Barrel on a Weiand intake,I switched to the Torker and knocked 3/10s off my time!

Now if it sells will the car be left as is and enjoyed or retuned back to stock and then shown in all the magazines as a low mile resto ?????
Makes me wanna puke thinking this .

This is one of those cases where he put this price on the car hoping someone with more money than brains will, without looking at the market just pay the total price and be happy…He (seller) knows its not worth it, But also knows there is a fool born every minute. He is hoping one of them is a Camaro freak!
