There’s lots of benefits to simple. Take this 1983 C10 truck for example. The thing has the looks of a breadbox that someone dunked into a paint bucket and we’re not saying that as a negative thing. I had a 1982 Chevy truck in high school which was similar to this one with about 1/50th the horsepower and a four speed transmission. Two wheel drive, short box trucks from this era are totally the jam and when you take a traditional 23-degree headed 383 Chevy small block and stick a single turbo on it, tweak the suspension, bend up a trick and tight fitting cage, and then run 10s? Even better! In this video you can see the truck running at the strip with a small turbo that is maxing out at 15psi of boost and then getting onto the dyno rollers at a shop with the Street Outlaws gang where it is sporting a new, larger turbo. Those guys seems really into it because the thing is so dead nuts simple.

Early in the video the owner/driver of the truck claims that it weighs 4,700lbs. That seems a little heavy to us, but maybe he had a real fatty in the passenger seat when he crossed over the scales. We figured it would have been about 4,000lbs. Weight non-withstanding the thing is a 10-second runner and a consistent one at that as you will see it running against all kinds of stuff at the strip. When he gets the truck to the dyno you’ll see Drag Week hero and pro mod racer Jeff Lutz along with the normal cast of characters. The truck churns out 650hp at the wheels on the dyno during the session. It made 625 on the first pull and then with a timing adjustment made 650. That’s nearly 800hp at the flywheel if you go by the 20% loss number that every seems to agree on (or not).

Street legal and making all that power? This is a fun machine for sure!

now that is a build. Nice truck. That same year and style is my first whiff of performance.. I was a young teen and so was my neighbor. 327 for 100 bucks, and a 3 speed with overdrive. Even tore it down in the driveway mud. Loved it.

Show the vid when it stomps on the fractal geometry plague.. err, I mean the gt-r.
