The 2014 Spring Throwdown In T-Town – Drag Action At The Biggest Event In The History Of Tulsa Raceway Park

The 2014 Spring Throwdown In T-Town – Drag Action At The Biggest Event In The History Of Tulsa Raceway Park

(Words and photos by Brad Klaassen with additional photos from Tish Dingman and Bland Bridenstine) – When spring time in Oklahoma rolls around it means it’s time for another Throwdown in TTown at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park. We’re talking some of the fastest doorslammers in the country people. And just like clock work that’s what went down once again at TRP. Track coowners and Pro Mod racers Todd Martin and Keith Haney pack the joint with straight line fever inflicted fans every year because of one thing in particular. FREE admission!

Granted, just because something is free doesn’t guarantee a fantastic time. But, that never applies to a Throwdown in T-Town. We’re talking three second Outlaw Pro Mods and Legal Pro Mods, along with both small and big tire cars blazing the 1/8th mile, Wheelstander exhibition passes, PMRA drag bike action, plus ¼ mile test passes by Scott Palmer’s Top Fuel car and Tulsa’s own Grad Prix Racing’s Nostalgia A/Fuel front motored slingshot.

Oh yeah, there was also a little match race that I’m sure tons of you saw on Bangshift.com’s live event coverage if you weren’t able to attend in person. We’re talking Frankie “The Madman” Taylor’s TRP track record setting Outlaw Pro Mod (3.58 et) vs. Scott Palmer’s Top Fuel car on Saturday night at the Throwdown, baby! We heard Palmer is looking for a rematch because tire smoke at the hit wasn’t the way Scott wanted it to go down.

And if all the ultra cool doorslammer racing action wasn’t enough bang for your buck, Oh wait it was free, straight axle cars of all configurations were in the house too supplying more fantastic old school wheelstanding entertainment. Plus Alaska & Maddie from “The Voice” were in the house putting on a free concert too! Want to go for a blast down the track in a two seat dragsters or maybe a helicopter ride? Yeah you can do that at the Throwdown too.

Okay, I think you get the idea. Tulsa Raceway Park’s Throwdown in T-Town races always equal fun to the Max for FREE! And if you missed out on this race don’t fret. The gang at TRP will do it all over again in October and the price of admission is always the same for two days of unparalleled excitement and fun! See you at the drags. –Bad Brad

Just so folks don’t get the wrong impression……..Yeah, the gate is free, but you have to pay $10 to park! Still the best bang for your buck anywhere!
