8.29@180 Miles Per Hour: This Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R Is A Street Legal Rocket!

The R32 Skyline is considered by many to be the ultimate Nissan. We won’t go that far, but there is little doubt that they are certainly wicked machines that are a far cry from the “rice rocket” slander. The Australians called the R32 “Godzilla” after it stomped the Ford Sierra Cosworth through the ground two years running at Bathurst. The RB26DETT turbocharged inline-six was good for about 500 horsepower out of the gate in factory race trim, and if anybody actually believed the quoted 276 horsepower figure from Nissan, they deserved the shock they got when they hit the throttle…power was more around 320 horsepower, once the new owner found the bright yellow boost restrictor and removed it.

This R32, built by Croydon Racing Developments, is now running one big-ass turbocharger, a race-prepared automatic, and enough pressure to get this Skyline hustling. This is a street car in Australia, mind you, so it’s all there and apparently all good under the watchful eye of Big Brother. We highly doubt that CRD is street-testing this car, either, given that ever-so-gentle wall slap…

That’s pretty good times for running DRAG RADIALS. It’s a miracle the aussies let him continue to run after hitting the wall they are usually pretty tough on hoon driving.

This would have to be a private track day as there is no way officials would let this continue to run, not using the suit which is a requirement in the rule book, also going by the interior the roll cage would not come close to being legal for the times its doing.
