Aussie Test And Tune Footage From Heathcote Park Raceway – Rotarys, Sixes, Eights, And Even A Lambo!

We love seeing all sorts of cars mixing it up on the same playing surface, no matter the racing, and a test and tune night at the dragstrip is guaranteed to bring out many different players. We see it here in the States and the Aussies see it there too. The difference between the two countries is that Australia, though deeply rooted in V8 lore, has been great at accepting anything automotive. Does it haul ass? Great! That’s all that matters. After that, it’s up to the builders to come up with some creative solutions, many of which are featured here. Sure, you’ll see Holdens and Falcons, but when was the last time you saw a Lamborghini Jalpa frying the tires off in the burnout box before running 10.70@131 MPH? For most of you, I’d take the bet and say, “never”. Or how about a Mazda RX-3 that sounds like it is trying to rip space and time apart? It’s small, it’s light, and it sounds like a pissed off hornet is right next to your eardrum. And that’s before it launches on a chassis-shaking run through the gears. Here’s another round of the latest and greatest out of Heathcote Park Raceway, enjoy!

How I love Aussie drag racing!

Unfeasably huge engines in compacts, subtle paintjobs and best of all those screaming Mazda rotaries!

I wonder if that Lambo has still has the original V8 – it doesn’t sound like a thrashy little DOHC motor, more like hot small block has been stuffed in there.

The best thing is that most of these cars will see street action as well – especially in a country with miles of empty roads – just watch out for suicidal kangaroos!
