BangShift Question Of The Day: How Quick And Fast Will Larry Larson Go At This Weekend’s PSCA Street Car Super Nationals?

BangShift Question Of The Day: How Quick And Fast Will Larry Larson Go At This Weekend’s PSCA Street Car Super Nationals?

Starting just before 4:00 PM Pacific time this afternoon, we’ll be flipping our cameras on and bringing you the first of four days of coverage from the annual Pacific Street Car Association’s Street Car Super Nationals. The event, held on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the last big meet of 2014 and it promises to be insanely fast as it is every year. There is always fun stuff to watch and there will no doubt be lots of records re-written over the course of the race, especially when the temps dip way down at night and the air gets very favorable for racers trying to make maximum power. Of all the cars and trucks that will be competing, one of the most hotly anticipated is the Chevy S10 of Larry Larson. The Drag Week Doomsday machine has been through tech and has even turned a tire in testing yesterday. As you (and the rest of the world) knows, the truck has run a best of 6.16 second at 219 mph and that was recorded with the parachutes fully blossomed in the lights and the truck decelerating. I know that because I saw it with my own two eyes, although I am not sure they were telling me the truth even to this day. After that run and all of the street miles racked up on the truck, the engine was sent back to Proline where it was serviced and freshened up and then returned to Larson. He’s plugged it back into the truck and now looks to make some hay at SCSN…but how much hay will be made?

It is clear the that truck has 5-second potential. It is clear that the truck has MPH potential in the 240 range, but we’re looking to see how good you all are out there in reader land. We want you to post your guesses as to the best speed and elapsed time that larry will achieve this weekend. The person closest will get a free BangShift prize pack! We’re going to use elapsed time as the prime number here and mph will be used as a tie breaker. In the event that two people guess the same the person who entered their comment in first will be declared the winner. The absolute latest you can guess is midnight on Saturday. No guesses will be counted if they are made on Sunday.  Now, let’s have some fun!

As to my reasoning … as if anyone cares .

I’m guessing that despite all the incredible engineering thats gone into this monster … in the end the evil god of aerodynamics will limit its potential . But in all honesty … I hope I’m wrong 😉

Envy ! Such a pathetic waste of time , energy and emotions . You considered seeking professional help for that ? Because trust me … from the overall tone … your need to over generalize in order to validate your personal opinions .. as well as the language and content of your comment …. you really need it … badly

Might I recommend someone in your general vicinity ?

By the way . In case god forbid you actually have one . Send my condolences to your wife/significant other …. poor girl 😉

First and last time I ever agree with Colorado Kid. Not sure the truck aero can support the top end traction to get to 230-240 and quicker e.t.’s

    Show me I’m stupid Larry!

Yeah, jeez, what the hell, man. I didn’t think he said anything out of line. Aerodynamics are most likely going to be a deciding factor here. The chassis is solid and the motor has the beans, but it’s still an S10, which is not the most aerodynamic vehicle ever/

          1. Chad Reynolds

I think it’s funny how many people talk about the aero of the S10. The roof height is exactly the same as the Chevy II, and the width is 7 inches narrower. 7 inches!
And with the long flat tonneau and the fact that raising the bedsides makes the roof seem chopped in the rear, we think the aero is actually pretty good. As good as some? No, but better than you think. I think. LOL
