Summer Send Off and Funny Car Fever at Rocky Mountain Raceways This Weekend!

Summer Send Off and Funny Car Fever at Rocky Mountain Raceways This Weekend!
The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series holds a big race this weekend, June 5 & 6 at Salt Lake City’s Rocky Mountain Raceways.  Racing is open to Groups 1 & 2, welcoming Heritage Series racers from most of the western United States with some Canadian entries.  The quick A/Fuel dragsters, Jr. Fuel and 7.0 Pro classes lead the field with all the Nostalgia Eliminator, Altereds and Gasser classes in search of a coveted NHRA Wally.
Featured at RMR is the yearly Funny Car Fever for Heritage Series nitro funny cars, with points leader Steven Densham in his family “Teachers Pet” Camaro – with twelve floppers expected for what will be a stellar eight-car field.  Densham is undefeated this year in seven rounds of competition, including the legendary Good Vibrations March Meet and the Firebird Raceway Ignitor.
This is an important race in the Heritage Series and has attracted the top six funny car points earners, consisting of #2 Kris Krabill in the “Northwest Hitter” Firebird, #3 Roger Garten’s “War Horse” Mustang, #4 Richard Townsend in his “Nitrohaulic” Camaro, #5 Robert Overholser in the “California Hustler” Firebird and #6 James Day in the “Pedaler” Challenger the March Meet runner-up.  Also expected are Bob Godfrey’s “Burnin’ Money” Camaro, Rick Rogers driving the “Fighting Irish” Camaro, Dennis Swearingen’s “Nitro Cowboy” Omni and Scott Stanger’s “Bad Manners” Cuda.
Qualifying for all classes starts Friday June 5 with nitro sessions scheduled for 6:30 and 9:00 PM and a final nitro session at 1:00 PM Saturday with Eliminations under the lights.
Adult tickets are $25 / Youth ages 5-12 $10 / ages 4 and under are FREE with a paying adult.  Get $5 off your Adult General Admission Tickets when you redeem a Coca-Cola product at the ticket booth on the day of the event.

The Heritage Series is the best thing going for the NHRA. No delay boxes, no electronic throttle stops, no automatically shifted cars…just great racing on a full 1320!
