Tennessee’s I-40 Dragway SOLD!!!! Another Drag Strip Saved!

Tennessee’s I-40 Dragway SOLD!!!! Another Drag Strip Saved!

We have it on very good authority that papers were signed today for the sale of I-40 Dragway in Tennessee! That’s great news for racers as the track recently came up for sale and it’s fate was not known for sure. The Howe family decided that they no longer wanted to be in the drag racing business, and put the track up for sale late last year either to be run as a dragstrip or to be utilized for any other commercial purpose. We are SO GLAD to hear that it has been sold and will apparently remain a dragstrip.

We do not have any more information that we are able to share at this time, but rest assured we will bring you all the details as soon as we are allowed.

Good news for Tennessee racers! Lets put a breath of fresh air into this joint and keep on racing!

So glad to hear this.My brother in law and I resurrected this strip and I managed it in the late 80’s when it was just a rabbit field with a burnt out tower that was split down the middle by dynamite planted by some unhappy racers.
Was a lot of work returning a respectable facility and safe racing back to the local racers. The track passed to some good people when the Howe’s took it over.
They did a great job in a very competitive market, hats off to them and all the best for the new owners.
