No LIVE Streaming Video From NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion

No LIVE Streaming Video From NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion

It is with a heavy heart that we announce today that BangShift.com will NOT be LIVE from the California Hot Rod Reunion this month. It pains me because the CHRR was our very first LIVE Broadcast and it has been an amazing journey since. We apologize to the fans and viewers from all over the world who have come to expect great live coverage from BangShift.com but, unfortunately, changes (and the timing thereof) within the NHRA are going to preclude us from bringing you the California Hot Rod Reunion LIVE this year.

Please know that BangShift.com will continue to work with NHRA in hopes of returning for 2016, and that we love the Nostalgia Drag Racing community and the NHRA Heritage Series.

I also want to put out a special thank you to Good Vibrations Motorsports for their continued support. Once again Good Vibrations was going to sponsor our top end and pit interviews with Donnie Couch and Darr Hawthorne, along with special guest Mike English.

Thank you for all the support, and again our apologies for being unable to bring you the California Hot Rod Reunion for 2015.

Sincerely,

Chad and Brian

Sorry to hear, guys. I know how much you and also we enjoyed. Will miss waving at you on the portable lift as I back up from the burnouts this year!

  2. Tres

It is this type of NHRA thing I have witnessed in other popular sport venues. The complicated nature and costs pushed family business and fortune 500 companies out alike. That is not what the fan wants at all.

  3. Craig Dixon

NHRA. You are the most miserable bunch of t***sers . To rob fans of nostalgic drag racing. I hope you all get s**t on from a great height. Bangshift I feel sorry for you having to deal with suits with only filling there wallets

  4. ray royer

nhra you are a bunch of sorry s o bs go ahead and keep shooting yourself in the foot just another dumbass decision u guys are really good at

  5. jay Bree

This really really sucks. HRR is what the car hobby is about. NHRA is what big business is about.

  6. Phil Smith

looks like another example of NHRA—–NO HOT REUNION ANYMORE—-corporate control syndrome……instead of allowing the world who can’t attend to tune in and NHRA to further promote the sport of Nostalgia Heritage Drag Racing and interest those who may be new to the sport and/or are considering jumping in to participate and/or just build or buy a vintage hot rod or muscle car, they once again shoot themselves in both feet by pulling the plug on a great social-media opportunity that the BANGSHIFT BOYZ have so abley presented…..thank you Chad & Brian for the memories and I hope we can all take time to put social-media pressure on the NHRA to “get their mind right” !!

  7. Al Meadows

The continuing saga of how to slowly destroy a once great sanctioning body for real racers… Keep putting your greedy hand out and bleed the sport dry with any means possible.

  8. jerry z

Did look forward to watching some of the racing, especially living here on the right coast.

    BOOOOOOOOOO!

  9. Jason Hall

Why the NHRA insists on pulling this crap, I will never understand. I feel for those who cannot make the trip. Luckily, I got the call to lend a hand this year…

  10. Adam F

If I could get my money back I would not show up with my car!!
What a total lack of support on NHRA to NOT show the boys across the pond!

  11. Frank Rivera

NHRA needs the money, the big show is tanking 16-car show are now 14-car shows.profits are down

  12. linda

What a bunch of #$%^Tards the NHRA has proven to be. Another stupid decision by an archaic cartel. Their own ESPN coverage sucks us all into boredom and is dumped or delayed by little league, tennis, what ever. They need to get with the times and have live streaming for all of their events and let BangShift be, For me, being a driver’s wife stuck at home, Bangshift has been my connection to the Bakersfield events when I can’t be there. This is just plain stupid.

  13. Larry

So by blocking BStreaming the attendance number will go up by maybe 50.
I know their business is selling tickets but this is a shame, as not everybody can travel to Bakersfield.

  14. Colin Millar

From a person across the pond we all can’t wait for the California Hot Rod Reunion to come around, and how do we watch it from they’ve UK, on BangShift.com of course, how stupid and crazy not to continue with live streaming, there is a huge British support coming to the event with three British drivers taking part Tony Betts Steve Neimantus and myself Colin Millar, with all of the British Drag Racing family back home fully expecting to watch it, they are so disappointed, how does exclusion help the sport, we are passionate people who love to race and watch, just plain stupid !!!
See you all at The Patch and cheers Chad and Brian

  15. 100% NITRO

NHRA……You suffer from RECTAL CRANIAL INVERSION! Pull your head out of your A** and smell the nitro. I hope that this is not the beginning of the end for BangShifts coverage of one of the best Nostalgia Drag Meets ever.
So many people look forward to this coverage.
Chad and Brian are the best (You guys rock)
    BangShifts coverage is the best.
I hope you guys will return, and that NHRA gets a clue!

  16. Gary morgan

I’m glad I made the big decision to attend from the UK this year, having watched & dreamed about being there in person. Who’s to blame?, well Bangshift of course! If I hadn’t watched the coverage over the last few years I wouldn’t be coming to see it live. The NHRA have definately lost the plot , as Colin Millar says above, him Steve & Tony have shipped cars over to be part of the event, and all there fans back home won’t be able to follow them now, disgraceful behaviour NHRA…..

  17. Stu

For us guys in the East who can’t go, this was our chance to live the event. Really too bad. NASCAR, you really suck now.

  18. Scott A.

Even though I will be there, that really sucks for the rest of the Nostalgia crowd…It was pleasure to watch on the computer but then even better to meet Chad in person…hope to see you guys out there again in the future…NHRA needs to get thier heads out of you know where…bad NHRA.

  19. miso hornee

Sponsors are leaving NHRA in droves as their exposure has disappeared.

    I wonder why?

They’ve already destroyed their big show.

Why not wipe out the nostalgia division too?

  20. jim mcneil

shocked and disgusted, can,t believe the absolute stupidity of this decision, don’t understand how they continue to drive yet another nail in the coffin of what was once a great organization. they obviously have no idea how to try and at least maintain a rapidly eroding fan base and ignore those of us the made them and the sport what it once was. poor wally is turning in his grave

  21. pops

NHRA—–NO HOT REUNION ANYMORE………………No more NHRA for me !……………………stupid decision ! We have 3 Brit cars running at the CHHR……Dam Im anoyed and pissed !

  22. Jeff Miller Time Bandit Racing AA/FD Garrettsville, Ohio

NHRA No Happy Racers Around!!!!!!!! Come on…Get your head out of your ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Greenbastard

Total BS on the part of the NHRA. I have attended 4-national events every year for the last 15-years, but in 2016 I’m boycotting the NHRA until I hear an announcement that Bangshift is going to be allowed to stream the CHRR in 16! It may not be much, but this fan has had enough!!!

  24. "The" High Life

How lame, I have watched the event over the past several years via Bangshift. I have been talking with friends and getting them on board to making a trip out for the event all due to the coverage provided by Bangshift.
This announcement/strategy will not help you grow the event, it is a very narrow minded, narrow focused, short term plan made by people that do not have a clear understanding of the digital reality that we live in….

  25. Jay Bree

Let’s pretend the internet doesn’t exist.

How’d that work out for the recording industry?

  26. Anotheridiot

We can try to complain at nhra’s facebook page, but they read everything before its posted. Terrible news, I was hoping the reason Chad would not be broadcasting was because he was driving the winged express.

  27. PISSED RACER

WHY? I have friends all over the country that cant be there to see me play race car driver. Some who have seen the BANGSHIFT coverage now come to the race and the March Meet as well. Sure glad Comptons gone…NOT!!!

  28. Bear

IHRA !! they stream all their races free from their website.my altered will never go down a nhra track again, and i done with watching on tv also.

  29. OldBob

I’ll be in Bakersfield , but this news sucks! I just don’t understand where there coming from. I thought the new guy was going make a real effort to each out and work to improve the NHRAs presence. Thanks to BS for trying.

  30. John Hass

I`m assuming that there will be NO broadcast of the reunion even though the post specifically says no LIVE streaming. If it were aired the next day, weekend or even following week, it would not affect ticket sales and could be watched by those that couldn`t attend. Ratings may be a little lower than live, but most fans would tune in for sure! Just a thought… Keep up the great work Chad and Brian. Bangshift is the best!

  31. Bill

We have gone to the last 10 California Hot Rod Reunions and can’t even begin to express the thrill of bieng around the people and history that makes the event special, NHRA you better pull your head out and learn its the people that keep you in business and without people like the Bangshift gang and us lowly little people that make up the crowd you will have to find some other line of work. I will make it a point to stop by the NHRA booth at the SEMA show (another group of people that you need to stay in business) and return any NHRA items I have collected over the years…..let me put it simply……..No Bangshift NO NHRA for me and that also includes my grandkids who are becoming gearheads with things like Bangshift.
Thanks Chad we have never met in person but you have this familys support.
    Bill

  32. Black Rose

Just canceled my room reservations for the CHRR and moved my flight to March.
NHRA will never get another penny from me.

I’ve been watching the BS feeds from Famoso since early on, and they are a great way for the folks that can’t attend to be involved. What a shame.
I’d like to thank B&C and the Bowser Family for all they do, you have my (and many others) FULL support !
See you all in March at the U.S. Fuel and Gas Championships/ March Meet.
NHRA I I hope your reading this, and if your not. I guess it really is too late… Oh, and I wonder how Aeromotive, Alston, Holley Et al feel about this ?

  33. Dave Scribner

follow the money and you’ll see who’s really to blame. some ones not getting their cut. NHRA can’t see who is their fan base anymore

  34. Dakine

It’s a 1400 mile round trip to attend for my wife and I, plus several hundred in hotels, gas, food, beer, and t-shirts. The only reason I decided to take the time and to spend the money is NOT
from reading about it, it’s from watching the Bangshift feed and seeing what I’m missing live. If the NHRA is too dim to realize what they are getting for what equals free advertising too bad!.

So Chad…Brian..what about streaming the Eagle Field drags? It sounds good, but I’d really like to peek a bit before making the trip.

  35. KIM GOSS

NHRA Please pay attention! YOU have done so much damage to your fan base, I would think that you had learned from past mistakes. You have decided to go with a new network after listening to the fan base and saying that we are sick of waiting till midnight or after every little league game or hopscotch party, whatever, but now you’ve pulled another bone headed move and are not live streaming The California HOT ROD REUNION with Chad and Brian. What’s up? Are you guys playing with a full deck or what. You need to support your fans, build the fan base don’t piss off the ones you have. I’m 58 years old and have been coming to Famoso my whole life since I was a baby. Now I am bringing my own kids, someday I hope to bring my grandkids. You need to think about the fans that can’t possibly make it there, they live it though these broadcast, in the end you will have a bigger and better fan base because of banshift and huge amount of people that Chad can reach. Please do whatever it takes to correct this error and support the people because without us you no longer have a sport(sad but true) that want live streaming with Bangshift! I’m sure it’s too late for CHRISTMAS but before you know it the March Meet will be here. So please support your favorite drag racer and return CHAD AND BRIAN TO THE BANGSHIFT ROOTS!!!

the only race where NHRA can get a full field in every class and they drop the ball on the excellent advertisement to what has become less than popular form of racing.

  38. John Graham

Well NHRA have you ever wondered why the IHRA is kicking your ass in nostalgia racing? I suggest it is because they treat fans and racers like they are somebody. I remember when Jason Rupert won 3 years in a row the Heritage Series and crowned the Champion after hot lapping the west coast for your stupid races and at the end of the season you give them one of your ugly NHRA coats and a check for $2500. I see he is running the IHRA series and has won 2 years in a row, at the end of season he gets a check for $50,000 or $60,000 no ugly coat . This is a good example of what you tight ass bastards have done to the racers and made them have to go race on the East Coast just to survive. I believe the IHRA will be holding races all over the USA and soon and you swindlers will be out of business, and you are real close to that now. I say screw the NHRA before they screw you.

  39. John Graham

I forgot to mention every race Rupert
won they got $15,000 I don’t know how many they won but enough to win the championship so They picked up over $100,000 for the year and NHRA would never I repeat never pay that kind of money and that is why everybody is leaving. Yes you can’t fill a 16 car field this year wait for next year will be a 8 car field

  40. David Z

Dear NHRA , I just dropped 500.00 at the race in Dallas and was really looking forward to streaming the reunion race on Bangshift.com . You’ve taken suggestions on changing the Dallas race back to October , but instead of me bragging and boasting NHRA for that ( plus brought 2 nitro babtism’s ) and getting to watch your nostalgia racing and telling all my friends to check it out and get them more into drag racing . Now I’m dogging you out , seems like greed and bad decesions hasn’t changed ? Maybe a Fan and a Racer should run the NHRA , McDonalds is ran by a clown and serves its customers better than you ! Better listen to your fans , cuz what would happen if we all start boycotting races and your badly scheduled
broadcast times on cable . IHRA seems to be the go to racing organization that cares for the people that support it ! Take the hint NHRA or you’ll be lost village idiots !

  41. Lee C

Leave it to NHRA screw it up again. I don”t think these assholes remember who pays there wages. They wonder why car counts are down fan counts are down. NHRA DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT US. Look at pro stock they will be lucky to have 10 cars next year. GOOD JOB GUYS keep running everybody off. NOW THATS HOW YOU RUN A BUISNESS ???????????????????????????????????????????????

  42. Chris K

Huge fan base in the UK unable to see our three teams from the uk running in this years event, how does this help the sport. NHRA needs to realise the damage they are doing to themselves here. The sport of Drag Racing is global so promote the sport world wide, Bangshift was doing that for you. hope this get sorted for next year.

  43. Jay s

NHRA is going to do the same to CHHR as they have to the big show. It’s not about the fans any more it’s about tv and commercial money. Just look in the stands on tv and their empty . People would not be so piss off if they blacked it out because of low ticket sales. We know that’s not the issue. I wonder who needs to have their ass handed to them for this brilliant corporate decision . For my self and my friends all 12 of them no more bullsh!!! . Nhra gets no more of our money. Vegas and Pomona are out as well.
