Nostalgia Drag Photos: The Maple Grove Glory Days Nostalgia Weekend Drags

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – The idea of nostalgia drag racing was born decades ago out on the west coast when guys would gather their old stuff once a year and hammer on it. Eventually that old stuff started to get touched and tweaked a little more people started showing up, and a movement was born. Now on any given weekend across the country there are a multitude of nostalgia themed events being held. Some of them are bigger than others, many of them are locally produced, and all of them have one thing in mind, to let racers race in an environment where they can be safe and have fun while being surrounded by old iron.

Grippo was at the Maple Grove Glory Days event last month and he sent us a load of photos featuring the coolest and most BangShifty cars there. This was a good one with everything from steel bodied foot braking door slammers to nitro burning nostalgia funny cars. Joe’s photos take a nice cross section of the event and you get to see a little of everything here.

I’m on my way to “The Grove” right now as you read this for the NHRA Keystone Nationals. Unfortunately the weather forecast looks horrendous so we’ll see how it goes. We need to channel some of the sunlight featured in these photos!
