As the days tick by, we’re getting closer and closer to the 2017 NHRA Circle K Winternationals and the NHRA is releasing some cool videos to get people pumped for the upcoming season. Recently they dropped this hot little number in the form of their NHRA Wild Rides 2016 highlight reel and there’s some nutso stuff here.
From Jack Beckman’s incredible explosion in Epping to Terry McMillan suffering the most spectacular engine failure we have ever seen in Houston, Doug Kalitta’s insane save in Topeka, and Tim Wilkerson’s bizarre early run crashes in Topeka and Denver, it is non-stop action here.
The good news in all of this is that every driver walked away. Heck, in the case of Ron Capps at Indy, he ran away after getting out of his overturned funny car in the sand trap. Gary Densham hurtling into the net at the end of Pomona was scary as hell but he too emerged intact, walking, and talking.
We’re not sure that we’ll see anything that could top Cruz Pedregon’s “wheelie” from Las Vegas in 2016. It is just amazing to watch that car pull the front end, catch air under it, and effectively hover across the finish line with the wheels way, way up.
One of the reasons that we love this sport is because you literally never know what will happen next. That’s never been more true than in this video!
