Big Money Bracket Action: Wheels Up Fun At The Lucas Oil Mini-Million – GALOT Motorsports Park

(Photos by David Whealon) – It was big money and big fun at Galot Motorsports Park in North Carolina recently as the Lucas Oil Mini-Million took place, drawing some of the best sportsman drag racers from around the country through the gate. With two $10,000 to win races and a big $20,000 to win affair along with all of the other ancillary money on the table, there was some $80,000 in total prize money awarded to the drivers who did the best job of weaving through a shark tank of eliminators.

Big money bracket racing is still a huge part of the sport of drag racing and while it may not be at the same peak it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy about a decade ago, there are hundreds of opportunities each year to line up and win 10s of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars at tracks across the country.

As you will see in these awesome Dave Whealon photos, the cars and trucks that showed up at Galot were as varied as they could possibly be. Door slammers of all shapes and sizes, dragsters, altereds, and the normal fare all came to the finest eighth mile drag strip in the world with the hopes of leaving with a big pay day. That honor was reserved for a select few but the place was jamming with racers and all reports are that the event was a big success.

We love this style of racing and the cars that participate. Check out the great wheels up action below!
