“Countach” Is Right: A Mountain-Motored Lamborghini Drag Car From Australia

A Lamborghini Countach needs no help when it comes to being an absolutely insane beast. The wedge-bodied super car was a jaw-dropper from the prototype onwards, the car was exceptionally fast, and it was produced in low enough numbers to be exclusive. By the time production of the Countach wrapped up in 1990, the car was an icon, a poster car that is still today the most widely recognized Lamborghini produced.

The Australians, however, could give a crap about exclusivity or social status when it comes to owning a Lambo, as evidenced by the vehicle below. This Countach, named in the Australian method by it’s personalized plate (“IB6 UB9”), is a stomper of the highest accord, with a mountain motor that’s probably taller than the roofline sitting up front. The hate from the super car crowd over this car is unbelievable, whether or not it’s a real Lambo (we’re betting “not”). It may not howl like an Italian beauty, but this Countach will scream just the same.

My first thought is, man this really puts into perspective how fast the Drag Week Unlimited cars have gotten. This thing is a full on Pro Mod and quite a bit slower than several cars that drove 1000+ miles on DW

They got it all wrong! They should have kept the original engine in its correct position then bored stroked and turbo’d it out of all recognition,

Instead they make a hideous ugly travesty of a great automotive icon – oh well that’s what happens when you mix beer with wild imaginations!
