Dare To Be Different: One Mean Nissan 300ZX Running The Strip At The APSA Grand Final!

We have more interesting race cars from the Australian Pro Street Association coming down the pipeline to show you! One of the neat things about Aussie racing is that there really isn’t a big lean towards one setup or another…if your car hauls ass, that is all that matters, period, and we’ve seen that with some of the crazy rotary-powered cars we’ve featured recently. We’re going to leave the Dorito Power group for a bit and take a look at some of the other different rides that are just as evil, like this Z32 era Nissan 300ZX. When the VG30DETT twin-turbo V6 is tuned on by someone patient enough to deal with the engine’s temperamental nature, the Z turns into an aerodynamic missile, but this particular Z looks more like a Pro Mod than anything else. It’s good for the seven-second range, but the noise it makes leaves us wondering if it is geared too deeply for the track…it sounds like it runs out of RPM a moment before the finish line. What do you think?

Pretty sure the Rigoli 300zx runs a RB series straight 6, not a V6. But yeah, it’s a weapon of a car. And only a firewall back car too

It does sound like it is hitting the limiter right before the line. The trap speed also seems to peak just under 155. Slightly taller gear maybe? Car is really quick to the 1/8th.
