Dodge To Introduce Challenger Demon In April – Drag Racing Honed Model? – Teaser Video Here!

Dodge To Introduce Challenger Demon In April – Drag Racing Honed Model? – Teaser Video Here!

How do you top a Hellcat? With a Demon apparently. Chrysler has announced that they will reveal the long rumored new and most powerful muscle car ever at the New York Auto Show in April. Dubbed the Challenger Demon this car appears to have been built with a drag racing specific audience in mind. We say that for two reasons. The first is the statement that Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT – FCA North America made:

“Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture. The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car [length], and a half second is your reputation.”

So that’s clearly a nod to the world of drag racing and the second major thing that the company did was release the first in what will be a series of teaser videos about the car. This one is called “Cage” and it is linked below. All of the imagery and the whole scene screams drag racing so we’re pretty sure that unless this is some massive misdirection we’re going to see a car that comes out of a factory running insanely quick elapsed times.

This is effectively the next generation Hellcat. How much power will it make? We have no idea. Rumors have put that number at well north of 800. Will it have the 354ci version of the hemi that Drag Pack Challengers use? We doubt it but who knows. Those cars make way more than 1,000hp. Will it be lighter? Have a different suspension? No answers for the time being but we’re going to see what we can find out.

Until then, watch Cage and be prepared because Dodge will be dropping a new video every week!

A car video without a car. Back in th e’70’s they discontinued the Demon name because it offended people, even with it’s cute little cartoon demon on it. Today, we apeal to a whole different type of people I guess.
Something with some teaser about an actual car might have been nice.
    This is just crap.

Totally agree. If the intention is to sell a car, actually seeing something with the car in it would be nice.

Couple things I pick up on from the video. Maybe Im reading too far in, but I don’t think so. The name “cage” implies the car will come from factory with a built in roll cage. Probably implying ET’s in the low 10’s, or even quicker as Dodge obviously wasn’t worried about the Hellcat breaking well into the 10’s without a cage. Also, at the end, there’s the “If you know, you know” on the iPad screen. Obviously, that’s simply implying that if you know whats going on here, you are part of the group for which this car is meant. I have a good feeling we’ve got it down. Cant wait to see this thing.

Next video will be next to a corn field. Cause it will run on alcohol. And it comes with Nitrous Oxide, cause the demon ate that bottle…

Sorry, Dodges only come with nitrous if they are running Pro Stock. At least that is what I heard. (a little 90’s throwback for this Thursday)

If I remember correctly Dodge said the same thing [if you know you know] before the Challenger Hellcat was introduced. I was going to buy a ZL1 but now I am going to wait to see what this is all about.
