Drag Video: Watch A 4-Cylinder, Stick Shift, Diesel Truck Rip Off An 11-Second Run In Thailand!

Drag Video: Watch A 4-Cylinder, Stick Shift, Diesel Truck Rip Off An 11-Second Run In Thailand!

Drag racing is a truly global American export. None of the hot rodders that were running around on the dry lakes and then air strips of California could have ever imagined that their activities would spawn a motorsport that is enjoyed by people on all corners of the globe. Take this video from freakin’ Thailand for example. It was shot at a drag race last year. We think that the strip is a permanent ones as the concrete divider in the middle looks like it isn’t going anywhere. There’s no guardrails, fans are kept back at a seemingly safe distance, and there is a traditional christmas tree launching the cars off. Oh, there’s also this group of guys that holds up the rear of this truck while it is doing a burnout…something not often seen or encouraged here in the USA. We’re not knocking these guys, but damn that looks all kinds of dangerous.

Anyway, this Isuzu truck is probably running a modified version of the 3.0L four cylinder engine that they know as their Duramax over there. This truck has some serious snot and better yet it is a stick shift and the driver is damned good with it. In fact, you can hear him jamming the gears and powershifting the truck all the way down the course. There are no score boards and nothing to indicate how quick the truck went other than the notes on the video itself. After watching this thing launch, we’re buying it. It leaves HARD and black tracks the tires through first gear and breaks them loose in second, at least.  Dig the Hoosier slicks and Centerline wheels!

That is the section of the Bira Circuit race track in Thailand that they have divided off for drag racing. But the truck is from Malaysia. You can tell by the black license plates and it is even written on the side.
