Five Minutes Of Engine Failure Carnage – Drag Racing Engines Biting The Dust At Races And Tracks All Over The Country

Five Minutes Of Engine Failure Carnage – Drag Racing Engines Biting The Dust At Races And Tracks All Over The Country

Engines fail in every form of motorsports, that’s not a big shocker to anyone, right? We’d argue that in our experience, drag racers do a better job of killing them in spectacular fashion than any of the other racing forms out there. Sure, land speed guys will twist them to big revs over long distances and spit parts out, but from the second the tree comes down at the drags, an engine in a car designed to go a quarter of a mile (or shorter) is working at peak output. Because drag race engines are working so hard right off the bat, at little imperfection in components, assembly, or tuning shows itself in a more violent fashion than anywhere else and this video is fives minutes of proof.

Urban Hillbilly Action videos went into their vault for this one and clipped together a nonstop reel of engines popping, exploding, swallowing parts, shooting hood scoops, and generally meeting their mechanical maker on the strip. The video clips were taken from tracks all over the country and they span a pretty good chunk of years. There’s a couple in here that we have seen from a different perspective over the years and a couple that we actually saw in person!

We’ve always admired the way racers fight through adversity and keep after it. This video is literally the most expensive five minutes you’ll see for a long, long time. Sean asks the question in the video description, but how much money do you think we’re seeing literally go up in smoke over the course of this video?
