Four Minutes Of Slick Wrapping, Ant’s Eye View, Slow Motion Drag Launches

Four Minutes Of Slick Wrapping, Ant’s Eye View, Slow Motion Drag Launches

Our pal Javier Padron made this video and it is four minutes of drag car launches shot with what we’d consider to be an “ant’s eye” view. Even more neat is the fact that the video was made in slow motion so that we get to see the slicks handle all of the abuse that these hardcore racers are doling out. If you have ever wondered why you are supposed to rotate slicks and why the tires have a definite lifespan, perhaps this video will educate you a little. It is seemingly miraculous that the tires withstand this type of terror once, let alone dozens of times!

Outside of the obvious wrapping, it is fun to watch the different rear suspension setups work on these cars. You can see some of them working flawlessly, planting the tire, keeping it planted and moving the car down track. Others, not so much. You’ll see several cars “hit” the tire and then start to unload or otherwise do weird stuff that is hurting the ultimate performance of the machine. Put on your chassis tuning hat when you watch this!
