Gear Jammers: Check Out This Awesome Video Featuring Stick Cars At The 2015 NHRA US Nationals

For the entire (near) week at the 2015 NHRA US Nationals, Les Mayhew was hustling around the track to get footage to build a series of videos from the race that included Roy Hill’s high flying antics, lots of driver interviews, and pieces like the stick shift profile shown below. The editing and story telling is pure Les and that means we love it. The video was published on the CompetitionPlusTV YouTube page and we have been watching it over and over again because of the sweet sounds that these high winding, gear ripping cars make.

The video is four minutes of stick shifting bliss featuring lots of clutch dump launches, a great driver interview with stick shift great Ray Paquet who races a REAL 1964 Ford Thunderbolt and is (among other things) a member of the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame, etc. Ray talks about some of the differences between racing an automatic and a stick in both the equipment, maintenance, and performance realms.

Outside of the interview are just a barrage of cars leaving the starting line making that awesome sound as the motor gets pulled down by the clutch coming in and the big rear tires applying all that bite to the ground. Stock and super stock cars are featured throughout and we think you will really dig the quick cut editing that Les did to get as man violent launches captured on film. Some of our favorite cars in the country are featured in this film.

Big blocks? Small blocks? Ford, AMC, Chevy, Mopar, etc. No matter what you have, if you are rowing your own it is definitely cool!
