Hellacious Dyno Video: A Twin Turbo 481x Pro Mod Engine On The Dyno At Darren Mayer Performance Engineering

We’ve been showing you some engine videos this week ranging from old chuffing stationaries to some wicked drag race engines. Well those engines are going to look like a couple of pea shooters after you get a load of the mother that is front and center in this piece of footage from Darren Mayer Performance Engineering. The engine in question is an alky burning, twin turbo, 481x  mill that lived in a pro mod on the NHRA trail. Even with the restricted turbo size, we bet this monster is making well north of 3,000 ponies and perhaps closer to four grand then three. No numbers are published so it is just us speculating.

The thing is pretty docile early in the pull but then when the throttle is plunged wide open, things get awesome in a hurry and the noise from the turbos and the screaming exhaust fill the room. We’re surprised that the thing didn’t such the ballistic glass right out of the wall in the dyno control room! DMPE has long been known as one of the premier suppliers of racing superchargers so it is cool to see a mill with a couple of hair dryers going to work on his pump!

Press play to see the hairiest, most totally pissed turbo mill you’ll see all week!
