Huge News: TruStart System To Be Used At Spring Fling Million – May Change Bracket Racing Forever

The Compulink Timing System Company along with the Spring Fling Million have teamed up and the result is something that could forever change the landscape of sportsman drag racing. Called TruStart, it is a change to the starting line operations that handicapped tree drag racers have either hated, understood, or lived with nearly since the inception of the genre. What is it? Historically, in a handicapped race if the slower car red lights it automatically loses even if the faster car cuts a worse foul start when it leaves the line. With TruStart that is over. If the slower car goes .001 red and the faster car goes .007 red, the slower car will advance and move to the next round and the faster car will be eliminated. This is a HUGE deal and the first (and so far only) time it will be in effect is for the Spring Fling Million presented by Optima Batteries April 12-16th.

We’re excited to see how racers react and potentially change strategies due to this new technology and we’re also interested to see if and how quickly it proliferates throughout the sport. Will more and more of the big dollar races got for it? Will tracks themselves change their programs to accept it? Will sanctioning bodied bring it to the national event level? We have a really hard time thinking that this won’t someday become the industry standard but crazier things have come along and gone away without being picked up in a widespread fashion.

We know one thing, the most dangerous words in the English language are, “That’s the way we’ve always done it.” and the triumvirate of Bob Brockmeyer at Compulink and both Kyle Seipel and Peter Biondo seem to live by the same creedo.

Congrats to these three for making drag racing history and potentially starting a massive change in the ranks of sportsman drag racing. If you don’t think this is an exciting era to be a fan of all levels of this sport you need to find another hobby.

There\’s huge support for this kind of thing. I hope it catches on, and is implemented everywhere in the future. This would really change the game.

Seems interesting. Other things that should happen is shield the other side of the tree so you can’t see it and go to a pro tree for everyone. The cross over delay timers and delay boxes going off the top bulb are crap. Make it easy to understand for the new participants and you might get more people racing. Oh yeah and quit advertising big payouts and then in the small print find out that is the payout for the winner of the pro/super pro run off. Bunch of BS running against super pro cars for the win.

The TruStaret system is long overduc. It should have been an integral part of the “TREE” sys. from the very beginning. I have been promoting the acceptance of just such a sys. for more than forty years and Mr. Kyle Seipel knows that.Implementation of the Tru Start sys, will improve the drag racing experience for racers and spectators alike.
