In Argentina They Put The Motors Inside Their Chevys….Literally Inside Their Chevys

In Argentina They Put The Motors Inside Their Chevys….Literally Inside Their Chevys

I love falling down the various worm holes that the internet opens up for me because I get to share stuff with all of you that otherwise we’d collectively never know about. Take these videos for example. After I got hung up on looking at a bunch of cool Argentinean Turismo Carretera road racing videos featuring Chevy Novas and other familiar style cars with highly modified inline six engines turning incredible RPM, I found these drag racing videos which are also from Argentina. I can’t say I was at all surprised to see a drag racing scene as I am well aware of how popular the sport is in South America. Hell, I know a guy with a jet car that went on a tour through several Central and South American counties a few years back. Like us, they love this stuff!

Anyway, the reason I’m sharing these videos is because of two wild cars that I found. Both cars are highly modified Chevy Novas and they both have engine set back like you would not believe. There’s very little in the way of information about the cars out there and even the video descriptions don’t tell us a lot but these things sound mean, look crazy, and seem to really draw a crowd. Both cars have inline six engines for power. Both cars are tube chassis machines and outside of a shell, and engine, a seat, and brakes, they don’t have a whole lot else happening. The yellow car doesn’t even have a nose on it any more.

We don’t know what elapsed times they run or how much power they make but we do know that they’re cool as hell and hot rods to their core. Obviously, over the years guys have found that moving the engine back promoted better weight transfer and traction when the driver hits the throttle to plant the tires. Apparently there is no page in the rule book limiting the amount of setback because the mill in the orange car is easily where the front seat would be and the driver pilots the car with his head centered in the back door window frame! We could keep yapping, but we’ll spare you. These cars are nuts and we love em’!
