Insane Drag Save! Watch Two Cars Nearly Collide At A No Prep Race Yet Both Emerge Unscathed

The great thing about racing is that no one has seen it all. Guys who have been going to the drag strip for 40 years can still be wowed, shocked, and otherwise impressed with stuff. I’ve got nothing on those guys but I have seen my fair share of stuff and this near collision between two powerful cars at a no-prep race in Kansas nearly beats all of it. The third and fourth generation F-bodies are both sporting hairy turbocharged V8 engines and as you will see, the third gen is making a nice clean run down the right lane when trouble erupts very quickly for the fourth gen on the left side of the strip (as you are looking down from the starting line).

After the driver gives the fouth gen a light pedal, the power comes back in quickly and overwhelms the tires, pitches him sideways and for a moment it looks like this is going to be one hell of a mess. Amazingly the driver in the fourth gen manages to lift and get the momentum of his car shifted to sent him hurtling in the other direction. The car spins a complete 360 in the middle of the track, hits nothing and the other driver motors away unharmed.

Some people like to harp on no-prep racing and while we run lots of videos of wild stuff happening at those events, there is an ever growing culture around them and as you will see, there is no grey hair in that culture. I’m always trying to figure out what these racers evolution in the sport will be. The honest answer is that they are blazing new paths in the sport…whether you like it or not.

Hollywood stuntmen would have had a hard time topping that one for a dramatic near-miss on a dragstrip.
