Sportsman-only drag racing at Beech Bend on a gorgeous late Spring day…if you can find me a better way to kill a few hours, have at it. The JEGS NHRA SPORTSNationals race brings together the sportsmen racers to play in their own show, without having to share the limelight with the big names and classes. Comp, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Sportsman, and Top Dragster classes are on the property and spent Friday qualifying for the start of elimination runs on Saturday. While we heard whispers of a lower-than-normal car count, there were still plenty of rides on the property running laps before the track was shut down for a barbecue and fireworks show.
Unfortunately, as it’s been all year so far, we have to say that weather will be a potential factor in how this weekend will play out, but NHRA does have Memorial Day scheduled as a make-up day, so if the storms hit this weekend, don’t fret…Monday looks to be absolutely gorgeous and will be reasonably warm as well! What better way to enjoy your day off than watching high-quality Sportsman racing?
Love the pics, sure were there were more Fords and Mopars there though.
