Kentucky’s Lake Cumberland Dragway Is For Sale – Concrete Eight Mile Strip Needs A New Owner

Kentucky’s Lake Cumberland Dragway Is For Sale – Concrete Eight Mile Strip Needs A New Owner

(Lead photo credit: IHRA.com) – Wanna buy a drag strip? While the Sealy, Texas track is selling for millions, we found an awesome little eighth mile strip for sale in Kentucky that has an asking price lower than homes in many parts of the country. The best part is that it is an all-concrete track that was redone in 2015. The seller claims that the business is turning a small profit as well. We cannot say that we have ever heard of Lake Cumberland Dragway before finding this listing on RacingJunk but we can say that the idea of owning a small strip like this is pretty appealing to us. Think of how creative you could be with a place like this.

If you are thinking that there are lots of tracks for sale right now, you may be right. Bunker Hill Dragway in Indiana just sold, Sealy is for sale, and there are others that will be coming to market as well. Is this a bad thing? Amazingly people tend to sell things when they feel as though that they can get the most money for them. What we’re seeing is an indication that these tracks have some value and that owners think that they can make the most money selling them right now. This track has a liquor license, the ability to hold a modicum of events, and for the money, it sees like a good buy for us. Just the concrete work alone to create the two all-concrete lanes would be a huge expense.

Not the Motorplex, not Gainesville, and not zMax, this is a piece of the soul of drag racing that is for sale at a damned reasonable price.

Who wants in?
