March Meet 2016 Coverage: Ford, Fords, and Nothing But Fords In Here!

March Meet 2016 Coverage: Ford, Fords, and Nothing But Fords In Here!

Over the last couple of days you have likely noticed that we’re giving you some more targeted collections of photos from the 2016 March Meet. Whether it has been top end shots, wheelies, or in today’s case Fords, we’re trying to show you every angle of this huge and fun event. The blue oval brigade was well represented in Famoso in all classes. From floppers wearing Ford bodies to sportsman racers competing in their door slammers, roadsters, or altered, the Ford contingent always had someone to root for.

Ford’s relationship with the sport of drag racing has been interesting over the years. They have always had a presence but the presence has changed and morphed depending on the era. Today the company is most interested in sportsman racing with their Cobra Jet program and their involvement in series like the NMRA. They removed themselves from pro stock and nitro racing a couple of years back and while there are still some stalwarts out there campaigning their stuff, it is not the presence the company once had in those ranks.

On the nostalgia side? Being that this is not a corporate concern, Ford lovers can be found in their cars running with the best of them and perhaps the brightest spot of all for Ford rooters at Famoso was the A/Fuel win by Drew Austin in his “Ford” powered dragster. Lots of cool stuff in here. Check it out!

I saw a blown alcohol big block ford dragster called ‘Nightmare’ in NE1. You must have missed it.

    1. John Brewer

Rod Horn’s ‘Rat Patrol’ in NE-1. 23 ‘T’ w/ a 598″ Ford BB motor. Parked next to me.

Yes that would be Van Heskett’s Nightmare Dragster which we have two separate sites Nightmare Racing and Nightmare Dragster. Nightmare Racing is all about all the builds of cars we have built and up and coming builds and the Nightmare Dragster is about Just the Dragster it self. Please feel free to browse both sites and like both pages.
Thank you Sincerely Bob Reichert Nightmare Racing

Maybe if the NHRA hadn’t caved to GM crybabies and came up with a
phony (revised) bore-space rule we could see even more Fords.
    (in NHRA)
