(Photos by Bob Chiluk and Greg Rourke) – As we have been telling you all week, the 2014 Meltdown Drags was an event for the books. With more than 500 entires, Byron Dragway was filled nearly to capacity. Additionally, you’ll see that there were a ton (like thousands) of spectators there to take it all in. What this means is that the MDA boys have certainly developed a great formula for a race that people want to participate in and see for themselves.

We really like the fact that these guys have stuck to their guns and kept the program as a once a year Byron event. Once you try to franchise something like this or take it all over the place, it totally loses its luster. Making it a once a year spectacle keeps it fresh on everyone’s mind and now that the world knows that they need to get in on the act early to pre-register and perhaps even then there will be a “sorry we’re full” sign on the door.
