This Nissan Silvia Drift Car Got Sent To The Strip – Nines At Over 140 MPH!

A turbocharged LS-powered Nissan Silvia that has been stripped to bare essentials is more than likely set up for one trick: drift. And they do it well…we’ve seen at LS Fest how stable these little rockets are when they are swinging wide in the corner with the engine bashing the rev limiter in. On an autocross course, a road course, or pretty much any patch of asphalt, a Nissan Silvia drift car can handle itself well. But the dragstrip…well, that’s something else entirely, isn’t it? Drift cars are supposed to do their best to keep the rear tires ablaze and are designed to be a little bit squirrelly to aid in getting the back end to swing as the driver desires, none of which is optimal for making a good pass.

That didn’t stop the Garage Worx team from bringing out their 600 rear-wheel horsepower, turbocharged 6.0L powered S13 to the starting line to give drag racing a shot. With all of the negative camber dialed into the front tires, on skinnies and slicks, the Nissan looks purposeful, and on nine pounds of boost, the LS is more than ready to run, but the million dollar question is traction. If the Nissan can’t hook up, then the effort was wasted. Guess that means a monster burnout to make sure that the slicks are nice and sticky!
