The Run: Watch An Underground Racing Lamborghini Run 250mph In The Half Mile!

Being the head timer of a standing mile racing organization myself (the ECTA) I have seen my fair share of stuff run fast thorough the lights in 5,280ft. I have never, nor has anyone else seen a Lamborghini run 250mph in a half mile…until now. This video shows an Underground Racing built Lamborghini run 250mph in the half mile at a recent WannaGoFast meet in North Carolina. The car has to be making 2,000hp if not more than that and as you will see, it is transferring the power through all wheel drive.

We dig this video because it was shot trackside and you see the run end to end. The car does not leave in the way you expect. You are expecting that you’ll see the car leave like a dragster off the line but that isn’t the way. The car accelerates smoothly and evenly through the first couple of gears and then you will see the nose kind of pop up and the afterburners come on. The car makes an amazing charge after that first few hundred feet and the proximity of the camera guy really gives you the sense of speed when the yellow missile comes by.

250.27-mph is what the scoreboard reads as the driver cuts the engine in the lights. The car sounds about as bad ass as you’d expect as well with its turbocharged and built to the hilt V10 at full song. The whole thing is just crazy.

Back in 1964 Pontiac ran a magazine advertisement for the GTO declaring it a device for shrinking time and space. It was a fun line. It’s the truth when you apply it to this car!
