See This Incredible Gasser Wheelstand From The Holley National Hot Rod Reunion – 1937 Chevy With All Four Off The Ground!

(Photos by Charles Wickam) – Of all the cool things we saw at the 2014 Holley National Hot Rod Reunion, this wheelstand pulled by the Addison Speed Shop 1937 gasser was the coolest. The car had made one run previously and it was a good, drama-free lap down the historic quarter mile here at Beech Bend Raceway. The second lap was a completely different story. From the perspective of a fan or an announcer, it was spectacular. From the perspective of a racer, it didn’t look the same. At the hit of the throttle (as you will see below), the car dead hooked and started to climb the ring gear and it didn’t stop.

There was so much momentum involved that the car literally launched all four tires off of the pavement and landed with Earth-shattering force before rebounding to nearly the same height and crashing back to Earth again like a bounding sack of potatoes out of the back of a produce truck. There were parts and pieces falling off as it was bouncing and while the driver kept it out of the wall, there was certainly front end damage done as the car rolled down the track after it landed all hunkered down on one side.
