Slow motion video has long fascinated people for different reasons. In sports it can be used to determine whether someone was in or our of bounds, whether a fumble occurred, who the last person was to touch a ball, and to see if a score is actually a score. In racing its uses are actually much the same but with a different twist. You can see how a tire is working, how a suspension is working, and you can watch to see how the chassis is doing its job or changing relative to the mechanical adjustments that are being made to the car.
This video is an awesome compilation of slow motion launches and burnouts from the guys and girls at 1320Video who shot ’em on Drag Week. Cars like Mike Roy’s monster Monte Carlo leaving with the wheels up, Jeff Lutz’s Mad Max Camaro planting the tire and running off, even the wild Australian Chevelle with its exposed turbos and little radial tires are all hear and accounted for.
Those of you looking for your junior chassis tuner badge can watch this and make some judgement of the efficacy of some guys’ stuff. Overall we think it is pretty awesome and an interesting way to see a group of cars we had a blast watching all week.
