Nicky Bonifante has shared some pretty awesome and wild stories from his life on the road in professional drag racing but this may be the topper. The story involves a crew guy with an unquenchable thirst, a bathroom, and explosives. It also involves a hotel that wasn’t all that excited and a pretty extensive cleanup.

These was the days when stuff like this didn’t result in a prison sentence. When we hear stories like this and put them in a modern context we cannot help but think of the consequence that someone would face these days for messing around like this. You’d be put on watch lists, banned from 49 states, and essentially forced to live the rest of your life on house arrest. Back when this deal actually happened? You paid the consequences, got your balls busted, and never did it again. Oh, the glorious past.

While people are not blowing stuff up on the road anymore (on the regular, anyway) there is still a good amount of craziness that happens and at some point down the road, we’ll go full Bonifante on you and tell those stories. Like Nicky, we’re going to be smart enough to wait until the statute of limitations ends or the players involved have departed this mortal coil.
