The American Powertrain Parting Shift: Ripping Gears In A 625hp Chevelle

The American Powertrain Parting Shift: Ripping Gears In A 625hp Chevelle

This is a pretty basic video but we love it for that reason. A claimed 625hp big block in the front of the Chevelle sure make some sweet noise when the guy leans on the pedal. We can see the driver adeptly working the four speed lever which is apparently a free addition to the car as he’s testing out some newly installed linkage to make sure the four speed is in good working order. This thing sure seems to have some oats!

While we do not know what the outside of the car looks like, the inside is pretty bare bones appearing with the open hole over the top of the transmission and no carpeting in sight. Don’t take that the wrong way. It looks awesome and we’re sure that the owner was just going with the “open floor plan” on this test drive but it looks boss. Before you espouse about how dangerous this is, the thin sheetmetal floor ain’t stopping anything that would really want in to the cabin anyway.

Hell, we once rode with Steve Magnate in his Rampage car that has no floors, slicks, and a stroker Mopar big block in it…in the rain. Not smart, but damned fun.

Enjoy this wailing four speed and the gear bragging driver doing what he do!

if you have to lift your foot off the gas when shifting, you’re a pussy. more like 350hp far from 650. unimpressed here.

Anything 4 speed is cool in my opinion but 625 hp??? maybe they are the little ones – you know the Shetland ponys.

All jokes aside anything 4 speed big block has me drooling.

Correct me if I am wrong…is that Muncie a small output shaft?….please do yourself a favor if you ever find the other 200 h/p of the 650 h/p advertised to put to that transmission and put a driveshaft HOOP
and u joint scatter shield….your gonna thank me when it blows apart!….that joint is spinning engine rpm in 4th gear………RIGHT!

this car has trapped 122+mph @3800lbs, pump gas street tire. you can do the math on the hp. it also now runs a g-force GF4A 4 speed.
