The American Powertrain Parting Shift: Four Speed, Small Block, 1965 Corvette Run 10s In The Altitude At Bandimere, Wheels Up

There’s clean and then there is CLEAN. This Corvette, campaigned by the Hernandez family is the latter. A beautiful car by any measure, it really is fun to watch yank the front end and rip of mid-10 second elapsed time in the thin air at Bandimere Speedway outside of Denver. While this video does not show an in-car angle, it is super entertaining to listen to the Corvette lug down and then rip through the gears at the track. You will see the car make multiple runs with 10.49 on the window so we’re guessing this thing gets bracket raced at the track.

We love all sorts of different drag cars but isn’t there something really cool about watching a legit stick car get after it at the track? You can train your ears to listen to the clutch coming in and pulling the engine down. You can tell if the driver is clipping the shifts on time, and you can certainly tell if the engine has the gusto to pull the gears because with each shift the RPMs rise and fall. Many will argue that automatics are more consistent and that’s why they are more popular. Yes, the end goal is to show up and win the race, not necessarily entertain people on the internet but boy we love the people who are sticking to their manual transmission guns!

This car is ultra clean and this video is ultra cool! A fitting Parting Shift for everyone heading to the digs this weekend, especially those running at the NHRA Dodge Mile High Nationals this weekend on the same strip!
