This Has To Be The Cleanest Unrestored 1974 Chevelle Known To Man – Shame About The Motor, Though

This Has To Be The Cleanest Unrestored 1974 Chevelle Known To Man – Shame About The Motor, Though

We’ve to thank Greg for the tip featuring this unrestored 1974 Chevelle. The car is amazing with 22,000 miles, an interior that appears no one has ever sat in, the crummy factory paint quality, and the original inline six engine. Yeah, we said inline six engine. If only this thing had a big block! Perhaps the coolest thing about this car is the fact that it had no rust on it and that when it was put away, someone had the foresight to coat the underside of the thing with “cosmoline”. We’re not sure if it is actual cosmoline or an oil-type coating that is popular in rust prone parts of the country.

To us, these early Colonnade styled cars are really good looking. Before things got all angular and ugly through the middle of the 1970s these still have some of the muscular, curvy lines that defined 1960s muscle cars.

The asking price on this car is just shy $5,000 which we think is really, really fair. While we do not see a car like this appreciating in value as an unrestored stocker (even with the original spare!) but we do see it as the perfect candidate for a small or big block swap and a manual transmission. You can do some mechanical work and be left with a pretty stunning cruiser and that is totally our jam.

The Chevelle has lived a charmed life. We’re wondering who will write the next chapter of it and what that chapter will look like.

Only year of these style Chevelles I like is the ’73. I replace the ugly square taillights with the bullet type. $5K is a great price since no rust repair is needed and can spent the money on the “good” stuff! I would not even change the color.

I’m liking this Rodney, but I find the mileage numbers suspect. Look at the crud on the fenders at the cowl, the hood hinges, and the scunge on the oil pan/trans. That’s a lot of mung for a low mile car. If the mileage is certified would you not post pix of that information pertaining to the said originality? Sorry, it’s just a Ted thing.

I agree. There is an unusual amount of grime for low miles. Even the overflow tank is grimy like it was wiped down. Nice ride and good price regardless. But no way 22000 miles.maybe like 70,000.

There is also way to much wear on the brake and gas peddle for 22,000. Looks more like 122,000
