Turkey Burn: This Aussie Style Burnout Extravaganza Was A Massachusetts Tradition For Years!

Hello from Massachusetts, the place that freaking invented Thanksgiving. That’s right. The Bay State, baby. Home of the guys with the buckles on their shoes and people appreciative enough of the native Americans that prevented their complete annihilation from starvation and malnutrition that they cooked them one whole dinner. Because the video of that first Thanksgiving is of such bad quality, we’re not going to talk about their traditions but rather our more modern ones. For years there was a fun Thanksgiving Day morning gathering known as the “Turkey Burn”. Evolving from parking lot burnout gatherings that were constantly chased off by the police to a fixed location at Uni-Trans Transportation in Uxbridge, Massachusetts the thing exploded in popularity. Because the owner was in on the whole thing there was no trouble from the police…at first.

As you will see in this video, by the time the thing peaked in popularity, there were probably a couple of THOUSAND people showing up. It got so big that we had actually made plans to live stream the thing for several hours on Thanksgiving morning to allow those of you not into parades or other lame stuff to suffer. Unfortunately that was the year that the thing got the ax. We’re not sure if it was local residents who complained, the owner of the business who saw it get out of hand with the crowd size, or just the local cops telling the guy that they did not want all those people there at once that swung the tide but it was gone as quickly as it appeared.

Without that madness, it is all about slugging down a few cold ones and rooting on the hometown high school gridiron battlers against a local rival that they have played every Thanksgiving for more than 100 years!
