US-60 Drag Racing Action: Bracket Action and Test Passes From The Nostalgia Nationals

US-60 Drag Racing Action: Bracket Action and Test Passes From The Nostalgia Nationals

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – Back again in Hardinsburg, KY for the Spring version of the Nostalgia Nationals featuring the Straight-Axle Mafia, car show, swap meet, and plenty of racing action.  This gallery is full of folks running brackets and a few of the test-n-tune crowd getting some passes in.  The cars are not all that varied as we see plenty of Malibus and Dimes showing why they are mainstays of tracks across the country.

One S-10 was tuning on the now-popular combo of a turbocharged 5.3 LS.  The thing will scoot.  The green Cavalier was pretty quick and sounded great with zoomies.  Might be the first time I’ve seen a Cavalier with zoomies.  Was surprised to see the 4th-gen Firebird sporting a fully-tubular front clip and a big-block.  Lots of clean rides and folks enjoying a rather cool, Mid-May Saturday.  US-60 has become our new ‘most favorite’ track.  It’s not the best we’ve been to, but the people are nice and the program runs pretty smooth.  Tack on the historical feel to the place and the experience is quite pleasurable.  If you haven’t been perhaps you should give it a try.

Enjoy the photos.
