Best Of 2014: This Video Of A Dad Dropping His Son Off At The First Day Of School In An Insanely Gnarly Willys Rules

It is most definitely “that time of the year” where kids are returning to school across the country and parents are silently fist pumping the fact that they’re headed back. We’d say that most of the kids are getting to their respective schools on their own two feet, in the passenger seat of mom’s sedan, or on the long yellow cheese wagon/loser cruiser. There’s at least one kid that rode to school in the most raggedly bad ass street legal Willys we’ve ever seen. This black beauty has a flat hood and what sounds to be a ProCharger whirring away under it. Is this a Drag Week car? The driver hopped out with a Joe Barry shirt on!

There are no burnouts or antics to watch here but there are plenty of things to make you smile. The first will be the reaction of the kids as this monster idles into the school. They literally come running to stare at it. The second will be the kiddo hopping out of the car and almost making a break for it before turning on his heels to share a quick hug and a knuckle bump with his dad. Like we said, not much in the way of outlandish craziness here but plenty in the way of coolness. This kid was definitely the talk of the school on day one!

That makes school cool! I needed a ride to High school in that Willys and maybe I would not have been truant so much.

I picked up my 3 boys after school in a Nascar replicar. Sponsored by Interstate battery.that turned a few heads.

Sure looks like a SUB-mini fiberglass version of the real ’41 Willy’s Coupe that used to run the 1320 foot track @ 9.0 2nds back when they were popular before Hollywood got their 2¢ into the ring. I’d rather have the full blown version with a real supercharger in it than just a Pete & Jake’s noisy gear drive to make that unmistakable whine of the cogs on the 4″ wide belt that drives the Huffer!!.
