Watch Anthony Vanetti Go Hurtling Into The Net After His Pro Stock Bike Lost The Brakes At Indy

Pro Stock motorcycle racer Anthony Vanetti made his national event debut at the 62nd running of the NHRA Chevrolet Performance US Nationals and yesterday did not go quite the way he planned. Vanetti went hurtling down the course here at Indy and once he crossed the finish line at more than 200mph he quickly realized that he was in trouble as his motorcycle had no functional front brake. Doing everything in his power to slow the motorcycle by down shifting and pumping the brake handle as hard as he could.

Despite his best efforts, Vanetti went flying into the sand trap at a high rate of speed. As you will see he prepared to ditch the bike as it entered the trap and instead held onto the rig as it went into the net and came to an immediate halt. The amazing thing was how Vanetti popped right up and angrily stormed away from the bike, his adrenaline pumping at about 85 gallons per minute.

This is some really wild video. Imagine being on the motorcycle and in Vanetti’s position as he crosses the finish line and then goes into check down mode before realizing that he was going into the net at the speed he hits it. The guy was hoping that the bike could be fixed so he could hop back on it.
Drag racers are hardcore.

“More than 200 mph”??? Someone broke the 200 mph barrier? I didn’t hear about that. Thought it would have been big news.

My land racing bike has manual (cable and rod) front and rear brakes. This video makes me glad I’m not dependent on hydraulic pressure.
