Back in the Spring, fresh of the weekend of announcing the races at zMax Dragway in Concord, North Carolina I shared with you the story of the Michalek Brothers Racing team and their event win in the top alcohol dragster category. YOU CAN READ THAT HERE – The guy driving the car that weekend, Corey Michalek is a crafty dude and he managed to get the raw video tape from ESPN who was recording the race for television broadcast as well as the track PA audio and he melded the two together into a great video below that takes you through the tense moments of his final round matchup against tough racer Brandon Booher. As you will see, things did not go according to plan for Booher and Michalek handled the whole situation in stride. He ended the weekend with a personal best lap and a personal best moment, clutching a big Wally on his first attempt at winning an NHRA National event in the dragster.
The Michaleks personify the good stuff about drag racing that we love. The brothers have an honest and deep seated passion for the sport that goes way beyond just a passing fancy. They have worked their way through the ranks to get where they are and they dedicated themselves to winning the Champion sponsorship a few years back and have maintained that relationship which allowed them to race with the Drehr brothers and achieve a major step in their drag racing careers. The whole thing rules and I was really happy to see them put it all together on that weekend in North Carolina.
