Hey I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a homer. You know what a homer is, a guy who roots for the teams that come from his hometown or area. Since the Demarco Boys are from my area and the car was built by a guy in my area, and the car is being tuned by a guy in my area, I’m hoping that these dudes go out and set the world a blaze in 2015 with what could be the world’s most powerful G-Body. One of the other cool things about this car is that I have seen it morph through many stages over the years. As the guys call New England Dragway home and I spent virtually every waking minute there for years, I remember this thing when it was first seeking the single digits and it was all steel. I remember it going ever quicker, running different engine combos, and I now look forward to seeing it at the races this year with its screw blown hemi screaming through zoomies. Now this 4.18 (they made a 4.12 later in testing) is not a world beating run, it is a very stout number for only the second time that Demarco landed on the gas pedal. We’re pretty sure it is now the quickest blown car on drag radials in the eighth…ever.
The was was rebuilt for this class and this engine combo at Dennis MacPherson’s DMC Racing in Halifax, Massachusetts, and the guys tapped Lonnie Houde to tune the engine combo. Lonnie has had his hands in a number of very fast blown alcohol cars for a number of years so the fact that these guys have the horsepower right off the bat is not a surprise to anyone. Did anyone ever conceive of a day where a car would be able to move an inch, let along 660′ at full tilt on a 315 radial tire?! This is crazy stuff and I’m glad that some dudes local to me are the ones getting after it. I hope to see this car competing in the Radial Wars class at some of the NMCA events I’ll be calling this year. People are going to freak when they see it and for good reason. It ain’t a Camaro, Fox Mustang, or other typical body style.
This car has been a part of the family for decades and Demarco won’t go any other way. The big Buick lives and it is more pissed off than ever.
Nice pass, but if he is going to attend outlaw radial races, he is going to need about a dozen more guys on the starting line. Just kidding…
