Watch This Steel Bodied, 520ci Blown Hemi Powered Mustang Carry The Front Wheels 4-500ft On Every Pass!

Stop us when we get to the bad part. Steel body, 520ci blown Brad Anderson Hemi engine, wheelie bars set tall enough that a German Shepherd could walk under them, driver that doesn’t lift for virtually any reason, 400-500ft wheelies, and elapsed times in the low four second range over the eighth mile. Exactly, right? There is no bad part here. Josh Long’s car is a truly neat piece and we have run still photos of it before but never video. Thanks to Sean Melton at Urban Hillbilly Action Videos, we now have some footage of this simply spectacular blown hemi powered Mustang pounding the strip at Osage Tulsa Raceway Park for all that it is worth. For the majority of runs you will see in this video the car tracked straight but on the last one, it did not. Lifting as the car was going over the centerline, Long’s car was passed by his competitor’s machine in a lost closer fashion than either driver wanted but there was nothing but some nerves between them when it was all said and done.

Yeah, it could be argued that setting the wheelie bar lower on the car may yield more consistent performances and less drama but the show is an important element to any drag racing enterpirse and Long brings it all to the table every time that this car comes to the line. The normally hard hooking strip was especially good after David “Cookie” Cook got done prepping it. As you will see here, the car doesn’t turn the tire at all when the driver lands on the gas, it just squats, hooks, and flipping flies!

We love the car and we love the fact that Long either likes driving it this way too much to change it or has actually found a sweet spot in the chassis setup which has the car hooking hard and he doesn’t want to screw with it. Great video of a great car. Long live the hemi powered Mustang of Josh Long!
