Watching This Pro Stock Engine Make Two Full Sweep Pulls On The Dyno Is BangShifty Symphony!

While the debate rages about what the future of the pro stock class should and will look like in the coming years there is one thing that everyone may be able to agree upon and that is the fact that the 500ci V8 engines are marvelous pieces of refinement and engineering. Racers have continued to eek more and more power out of the combination over the years and when it comes to carb’d, naturally aspirated drag racing mills, the modern pro stock engine is a dandy. The racers can only play the mechanical hand that they are dealt by the sanctioning body so don’t blame them for sticking with carbs. Dem’s the rules and if you want to play you need to recognize and follow them (as closely as you feel the need to).

The modern pro stock situation is one of power brokers, literally. Elite Motorsports, Gray Motorsports, KB Racing, and a tiny handful of others are where virtually every pro stock engine comes from. Why? The days of tweaking on one of these things in the garage and swinging for the fences on Sunday against the big boys are long gone. With full time development engineers working these things like dogs on the dyno day after day and week after week, tiny developments in engine packages are what teams need to qualify on the top half of a field or win a round by a couple thousandths.

In this video we’ll see a pro stock engine making two full sweep pulls and it is spectacular. There is something kind of hypnotic, scary, and awesome about seeing an engine like this running at full speed right there in front of you. On the track you hear it with the doppler effect as the car drives down the strip but here? The sound does not move, fade, or weaken. You can hear the true beautiful fury of this engine and we’re telling you that the speakers need to be cranked to 11 NOW.
