Wild Ride: Watch This Driver Keep His Twin Turbo 292 Y-Block Powered Altered Off The Wall

If there is one thing that drag racers know how to do it is stressing their engine combinations to the breaking point in the search for maximum performance. This is not a trait limited to North America, either. In this video we see a Finish racer suffer an issue right off the starting line which nearly causes him to wreck his stuff. See, as it turns out when you put 31psi through a 292 Y-Boock engine you may run into an issue. Who knew!?

The twin turbo 292 Y-block altered spools up, launches, and promptly blows the head gaskets out along with a couple of freeze plugs. The net result of this is the fact that there’s water pouring all over the big rear slicks and that is not a good thing. Immediately like being on ice, the car starts to slide and yaw as the driver does whatever he can do it keep the machine stable.

Through his quick reactions and good reflexes, the car does not touch the wall and while the 292 needs some work, the chassis does not! These guys can fix the motor and get back after it. Maybe with a little less boost, boys?
