This 1937 Packard Hot Rod Is Among The More Jaw Dropping Things We Saw In 2014 – Simply Stunning

(Words and photos by Kaleb Kelley) – There are some cars that just peak your interest the instant you see them. This 1937 Packard by G3 Rods of Rapid City, SD is one of those cars. I spotted this car, of course, among the Winner’s Circle at the GoodGuys Spring Lone Star Nationals. There were a ton of cool, unique cars there, but this one stuck out like a big diamond in a group of slightly smaller diamonds… So many people build 1930’s Fords and Chevys, but how many build a classic Packard? The grill on this thing is absolutely breathtaking.

This beautiful ride is completely chopped, channeled, and shaved with insane amounts of custom body work. I don’t know all of the details on this, but I hope to find out more from the guys at G3 Rods soon. The few things I do know is that it is on a full Art Morrison chassis with Accuair’s air ride system to set it down low on the sweet brown steelies with white walls for a super classic look. It’s powered by a 383 Stroker that looks to be Hilborn fuel-injected as well. I hope to see more of this ride soon. What do you guys like about this Packard?

How about everything! We don’t get to see near enough independents customized. And of the independent makers none comand the awe and respect even after being gone 56 years like Packard! By the way I am somewhat self serving in my praise of Packard because that is my restoration specialty, and am currently working on 3 Packards with one being a radical 1956 custom. I can speak from experience to the incredible build quality of Packards. And great engineering of the 356 engine is great, with one flaw in the oil pump supplied by an outside vendor, needs to be replaced and when that is done who knows how many great things can or could be done with that engine. But congratulations on a great looking build.
