Our Last Blast Of Action Photos From The Lone Star Pro Am Drift Series In Texas

(Photos by Charles Wickam) – We’ve had a blast showing you all of Charles Wickam’s great photos from the first round of the six event Lone Star Pro Am drift series from Texas. It has been neat running a bunch of drifting stuff, which we have never done and exposing some of you to a scene you have never really looked at before. To us the coolest and most telling things about this event are the ages of the competitors and the location. Young guys in a humble parking lot. Much like the hot rodders of 60-70 years ago on deserted roads in the middle of nowhere trying to go faster than the other guy, it wasn’t about the location it was just about doing it. These guys are into getting out and actually doing it, where ever and whenever that may be.

Who knows what the “future” is for drifting. Obviously there major Formula D series has a big following, corporate sponsorship, and all the trappings of a major league style effort. That being said, the sport of drifting lives largely at events like this one. We love the fact that the cars in this gallery all have the appearance of really being used and used hard during their lives. The cars have character and the drivers clearly drive ’em like they are trying to kill ’em and that makes for a great show.
